History: The Queen Mary II, the largest and most luxurious passenger ship ever built, was to take to the seas for the first time on the 25th of September, 2003. History: The TSS Earnslaw is a 1912 Edwardian vintage twin screw steamer plying the waters of Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand. She is one of the oldest tourist attractions in Central Otago, and the only remaining commercial passenger-carrying coal-fired steamship in the southern hemisphere. She was named after Mount Earnslaw, a 2889 metre peak at the head of Lake Wakatipu. At 48 metres long, she was the biggest boat on the lake. Transporting the Earnslaw was no easy task. When construction was finally completed she was dismantled and it took 6 months to rebuild. She then became a valuable vessel for the New Zealand Railways and was known as the 'Lady of the Lake'. History: The United States Coast Guard Point Class Cutters were a class of 82 foot patrol vessels designed to replace the aging 83 foot wooden hull patrol boat being used at the time. The design utilized a mild steel hull and an aluminum superstructure.
