The statue is started with a pattern on a scaled grid. It is then enlarged to scale onto a block of foam. Next, the pattern is cut out of the foam with a hot wire cutter; side and top views. A centerline and pattern guidelines are re-drawn onto the blocked cut-out sculpture. The sculpture is hand-carved and shaped within guidelines with a variety of tools including: hot-wire bow, knives, rasps, wirebrushes and coarse sandpaper.
